It stands north of the town and still appears to fulfill its role of protecting and defending the town. The castle originally had four cylindrical towers. Two of these towers housed living quarters. The other two towers served for defense. In the 1980s, a theater was built to ensure the continued use and preservation of this magnificent manor. The castle was used as a location for the television series "La Piovra."
Considered the pearl of Sicilian Baroque in the province of Caltanissetta for the beauty of its churches and historic buildings, Mazzarino has been included among the municipalities with a predominantly tourist economy due to its numerous churches, castle, and splendid attractions, attracting countless tourists each year. Another site of evocative beauty is the Church of San Ignazio with the adjoining Jesuit College. The recently restored church has a beautiful pipeless organ located in the choir, completed in 1734. The College is now home to the museum dedicated to "Carlo Maria Carafa." Other attractions include the Church of Santa Maria della Neve, the Church of the Capuchin Fathers, and the Church of the Madonna del Mazzaro, the city's patron saint, celebrated in September.
